When Darren got engaged to Rebecca and asked if I could photograph their wedding, I jumped at the chance! Daz is one of my oldest pals, and I was delighted to hear of his news of him getting engaged (he popped the question at The Blue Lagoon in Iceland, what a smoothie!) and when they said they were having their wedding at Red House Barn, I was sold. It's only 15 minutes drive for me, which is refreshing knowing I can be home before the small hours for a change (and back in time for Match Of The Day)!
I drove up to the local hotel where the boys were staying en route to RHB, and got some getting ready pics of the lads before heading to see the girls.
One thing I'd never seen before, or since, is a really cool idea that they both had. They wanted a picture of them two either side of a door, before they were married. I guess it was like a 'First Look', but they couldn't see each other! They had a nervous little chat from either side of the door which was very cute to be a part of!
The wedding itself was perfect, full of giggles and smiles! Just how a ceremony should be I think. After we had shot some portraits in the spring time sunshine, everybody retired inside for an amazing bit of food, and then followed by speeches. Darren couldn't choose just one best man, so he had all his best mates up there with him. The lads clubbed together and made a video which was played on the big screen, a montage of video and photos of the good old days to their favourite music, which everybody LOVED!!!!
Towards the end of the night Darren, as a drummer was invited up to the stage to play with the band, and I managed to get some rockin' pictures of him beating the shit out of the drums. The whole day was awesome, and watching your mates get married is the best thing ever.
Thanks so much for having me, you guys are rock stars.x
