SEAN + CHELSEA /// CORNWALL BEACH WEDDING AT POLHAWN FORT

You can imagine my excitement when I heard that Sean + Chelsea had decided that they wanted to get married down by the sea, and asked if I could photograph sealing the marriage deal! I was working with Tom from Patch Pictures (www.patch-pictures.com), who shot an incredible film of the whole day.

We'd both driven down the day before, and stayed in a rather quaint little BnB on The Hoe in Plymouth, which meant we could have a relatively easy little trip to Rame Head the day after, which took about 30 minutes, plus a 10 minute ferry crossing (which is always fun). We did a recce the day before to scope the place out, and even went down to the beach to look for some cool portrait locations.

On the day, we arrived nice and early, the weather at a temperate 18-20 degrees or so with little wind and grey skies. It was a beautiful setting, and later in the day, the weather would just get better and better!

After hanging out with the wedding party in the morning, girls first then the boys, it was time for the ceremony. Being outdoors just made it feel so much more epic. Even though the inside of the Fort is lovely, it would have been a shame to get married indoors. The weather more than held, and it was perfect. The registrars were amazing. They said to me and Tom that we could do what we want to get the shot, which is always amazing to hear from them.

After the ceremony, there was some boozy mingling in the sun whilst playing some lawn games. At this point at a wedding, I can always breathe a sigh of relief that the ceremony is over, not because I don't like it, but because there is a 'one-time-only' scenario to get certain shots, and it's always a nice feeling knowing that you've got them!

The bride and groom had a lovely all you can eat hog roast for food, and again, the food section of the day was really chilled (not literally). People were coming and going as they pleased for more food and drink. The day all of a sudden became night, and after Sean and Chelsea had done their first dance, the tide had come back in, and it was time for some portraits down on the beach!

Everyone got involved - the whole wedding party were game to dip their toes in the ocean (sea) and we had some amazing light as we lost the sun. Crazy to think that those shots were taken at around 10pm! Getting married in the summer means lots of natural light all day!!!

Sean and Chels were legends, sooo easy going and just left us to it, which is definitely the way I prefer go get the job done.
